Former New York Giants Linebacker Charged with Child Abuse
Michael Boley, a former linebacker for the New York Giants, was charged with child abuse on February 8th, 2013, though the arrest and charges are just now coming to light. It should be noted that the charges against Boley are for physical abuse, not sexual abuse. A few days before the arrest, the linebacker was cut from his football team, though the Giants were not aware of the legal issues that Boley was facing. Boley pled guilty to the allegations of child abuse in order to make a plea agreement that involved him taking part in a pretrial diversion program. Once he finishes the program, the child abuse charges against him will be dropped.
This was not the first accusation of child abuse against Boley, as he has a prior allegation from 2011 made by his then 5 year old son’s mother. He has been under investigation ever since the accusations two years ago of repeated abuse of his child. He was also arrested in 2008 for allegedly physically abusing his wife, however, these charges were not pursued. After this uproar, another woman who Michael Boley has a child with came forward and is asking for Boley to be supervised when he is with their son.
